CASE STUDY

Skinner Law Office, P.C.

Project type: website redesign, rebranding, ADA, UI/UX
2023

Context / Challenges:

The challenge of this project wasn’t that the firm had very specific ideas about what they wanted to achieve with this rebranding, but rather that they were initially unavailable to the FindLaw team to assist in identifying points the firm felt needed improvement for a site that, for all intents and purposes, was performing within the general benchmarks for the firm’s location and practice.

In order to produce an initial site design, I partnered with the team’s writer to make improvements to the banner messaging and subsequent homepage content that would then allow me to craft a site that would really set the firm apart from its competitors in the area.

Consultation:

Wanting to present a visual that felt very South Dakota, but that also represented both the vulnerability of the prospective client with the legal strength Mr. Skinner brings to the table, the American Buffalo seemed to be the perfect embodiment of these representations.

Project Scope:

  • Keep the basic color scheme, but refine it to feel less cold and uninviting
  • Ensure that the new site color scheme followed ADA guidelines for readability and contrast
  • Create a new branding element to be used on the site that brought in the refined color scheme
  • Bring in visual elements that have movement, but that use scroll effects rather than traditional animation to keep the site’s load time within acceptable limits
  • Craft engaging layouts and navigation throughout the site that encourages end-users to interact with buttons and links
