CASE STUDY

Dismuke & Waters, P.C.

Project type: website redesign, ADA, UI/UX
2023

Context:

This website redesign project for a prominent Dallas law firm, brought several challenges as I prepared to present my recommended visual strategy. First, the firm wanted to completely update their look, moving as far from a “typical lawyer website” as possible. Second, the firm wanted the look to essentially scream “Dallas! and Texas!” to any locals logging on. But the firm also did not want the new site to feel cliché or touristy.

Consultation:

After speaking to the firm at length about an initial direction, several options were presented to the firm, spanning the range from a more traditional look and feel with a Texas Live Oak as the primary imagery, to an alternate (and rarely used) Dallas skyline, to a yellow rose that used strategic colorization of the main image coupled with a very modern and colorblocked lower section of the site.

Challenges:

While the firm was immediately on board with the bold color-blocked site, they weren’t sold on the yellow rose, feeling that it looked too delicate. So the search was on toi find a bolder replacement. Enter the Mobil Oil Pegasus. Colors in the blocked sections were swapped out to reflect the new imagery and new button and link hover styles needed to be created in order to keep the site ADA compliant.

Project Scope:

  • Clean up font usage and choose typefaces that were a better compliment to the new visual direction
  • Craft a more engaging layout that showcased the firm’s practice, attorneys, and accolades
  • Implement animation in a more interesting way that felt more in keeping with the rebranding
  • Showcase the firm’s attorneys and staff on the about page
  • Create a clever and engaging 404 page
