Pelta Law

Project type: website redesign
2019

Context / Challenges:

The challenge with this project was that we were working with a lawyer who was not convinced that he even needed a rework of his site at the start of the project. But the analysis of his previous site showed that there were improvements to be made in the usability, accessibility, theme, and performance. We had very little access to the primary attorney due to this reluctance and so I was left to my own devices to craft a site that would convince the lawyer to embrace change and allow us to release this redesigned site.

The one directive I had with the site was to keep some type of San Francisco imagery as the primary hero banner image on the site as going with more of a literal visual direction would be an immediate deal-breaker. So, what I looked for was an image that brought some much-needed contrasting color and visual direction to the banner. The aerial, top-down view of the Golden Gate Bridge pushes the eye back into the banner content.

Project Scope:

  • Refine the established color scheme to ensure that it followed ADA guidelines for readability and contrast
  • Continue the geographic visual theme of San Francisco but incorporate a new banner image that felt more angular and graphic
  • Craft engaging layouts and navigation throughout the site that encourages end-users to interact with buttons and links
