The Dance Connection

Context:

This was an ongoing project (2009-2016) for a local dance studio and school who was looking to improve their overall online presence.

Challenges:

Improve the studio’s organic search rank return that would bring them from results page 8-9 to page one. On site level, improve the site’s usability, user experience, and related content. And identify and build out a social media presence for the studio across multiple applications. A successful execution of these goals would improve the studio’s opportunities to attract new business.

Project Scope:

  • Select a free wordpress theme and modify it to fit the studio’s brand then maintain the site with frequent updates

  • Taking the original site content and re-writing it to better reflect the studio’s philosophy, high amount of information, and attract both end-users and search engines

  • Set-up and maintain maintain multiple social media properties, including Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Google+

  • Select site imagery to reflect the best of what the studio has to offer in any given discipline

  • Showcase the excellence that is strived for by each of the students and instructors. 

  • Be fully responsive in keeping with the changes to end-users tastes

  • Easily expandable in order to make frequent site content updates

  • Be robust enough to house both a general consumer and password-protected end-user base

Notable Results:

  • The studio saw a significant year-over-year increase in enrolled students and local prestige at area competitions
  • The site jumped from page 8 / 9 in organic search results to page 1 within the first six months of the new site’s release and has remained there ever since
